week 8- shimoda7

today i shall be featuring an artist from deviant art once again
http://shimoda7.deviantart.com/

he is very much popular on deviant art, but for obvious reasons as we can see in his art.

Dancer by *shimoda7 on deviantART
from this piece we can see the creativity of his work. he uses the crumpled edge of a paper to make the dress for the ballerina, the tonal values in his work are so precise you feel they are actual black and white pictures which he took.
i especially like how he had done the creases on the paper, the lines and crumpled effect brings about a 3D dimension to the piece, you can just see this on your table popping out like this.

Less is more by *shimoda7 on deviantART
here we can see his colour pencil works. once again such an amazing piece, the attention to detail is unbelievable. we can see the different depth and focus of the picture, much like how a photo would look blurred in the back ground and sharp in the front, this drawing is able to clearly depict it. the colours are also spot on. i think the water droplets on the grass just brings on more depth to the picture, and makes the drawing more interesting. the drawing is also so detailed that we can see each vein on the blade of grass.

Lost by *shimoda7 on deviantART
here we see another piece by the artist.
this thime this was done on black paper with white pastels, something we have done before in class. i am once again awed by his attention to detail, the shadows and highlights really bring out the whole image, like the rest of his gallery, it can be considered "picture perfect".

to see more of his works, click the link at the top of the journal, i hope you guys have enjoyed this little feature.
