week 10--paris day 4

paris day 4! oh my last full day here! so lets get on with what we did today.

Musee Picasso!

so we made out way to musee picasso
needless to say er... its all picasso works!
i was actually sort of disappointed after the visit since i didn't see many of the "famous works" ( aka ones i studied)
i onli remember seeing this one. so a quick snapshot!
we weren't allowed to take photos, i didn't realise, but i already took it so...
the le jou thing again. whats with picasso and his la jous
some 3D work things. i think its a guitar. again.
he always does guitars
the whole museum was guitars!
oh he also did photography! anyone realise?
i didnt take a shot of them because there were security guards all over the place.
some of his shots were kind of interesting
i remember one which was one of those long exposure with a sparkler kind of photo.
i think i will be wanting to try sumthing like that this year for moon cake fest!
if i have the time that is.

his classic collage
and classic nude
and classic female
ahhh classics? but the work is not classic.
go figure.

next we made out way down to  Centre de Pompidou for the modern art museum.
it is actually a very nice place! i think i found more works in there i knew and liked than the darn picasso one.

guess what this is?
this is not a construction site. no no
this is the museum itself!
talk aout having a modern architecture to go with modern artworks.
i think it looks nice!

in front of the entrance we saw this street performer.
i think it is a native aussie instrument, saw it on TV before.
but i think this one really soudns amazing
its like beatboxing but.. so much more interesting. must listen!
i loved it, i should have dropped her some coins though :/
oh well, enjoy!
* ok i cun upload the video for some reason...* i'll upload the photo..

me and more perspective photo.
i reallly wanted those people to just go away!(aka parents)
damn they totally ruined the photo.
but they were so far ahead ( as u can see)
and i dun wanna have to search high and low for them
so i took a quick snap shot and ran after them
see the woes of an only child? *sigh*
this piece of art(instillation?)
is realllllllly nice.
i totally loved it!
it was this room, its like a cave like thing,
and inside there are all these contours
and the contours are lined with those black lines
so its like
reallly nice.
me:" mum can i paint my room like this?"
mum:" no comments"
another interesting piece!
u see those dots on the mirror?
they are gun shots!
so its like.. there is a painting then the mirror then more painting..
i don;t know how to describe it
but it sort of brings the audience into the painting..
i should have found someone to pose and i took photo.
ahha but since i don't it shall settle with me and my camera haha.
some woody spiral thing.
not much comment
i just like how it looks.
i love this concept
it is so me !
haha i would have drawn something like that
if i could think of it.
but i didn't sooo yea.
its so straightforward and obvious
and you could totally relate.
love it love it love it.
this.. is the floor of the museum
i think it looks dynamic, like it is like rushing to a place.
i don't know.. my friend gave me the o.o face when she saw this.
i think its sort of artistic in a sense..
haha
MATISSE.
*thinks of the mural*
haha, this is the one i found most similar to those we refrenced off..
if not the same except the colour is blue and this is brown.
haha i don't like you matisse, but im in your presence so i'm gonna be happy about it.
haha its like meeting stars, youmay not know or like them, but if they are famous, just go take photo with them!
braque i think.
it looked familiar.. so i took a photo of it
kadinsky!
i kind of like his works
i like the bright colours on the background most
and the colour of theshapes.
i like the colour more than the shapes per say.
as i walked around the whole museum when i saw paintings from afar i would guess who painted it
then when i walked closer i would find out.
i saw this halfway across the room
immediately knew it was kadinsky.
ahh i love this artist. didn't find much of the more famous ones like this is not a pipe etc. (  i think it was by her...)
but nevermind, this is characteristic! so  shot it is.
i however, forgot her name. oh great.
she is that surrealist! that that.
er
marrie? marria?
something along the lines. i don't know how i can forget. then again i always forget.
picasso or braque. i forgot.
it looked super familiar!
so photo of it here. im really just taking photos cuz they look famous(aka studied)
ahha when i saw this i almost jumoped 5 ft in the air.
DADAISM
duchamp and his mutt toilet!
haha i dragged dad to take a photo of it for me.
haha yay see see i saw the piece!
yo pollock!
haha i was again yea... jumping all over the place.
sooo yea pollock!
haha it is rather small, i thought it would b bigger.

so after that we left the museum
my parents have overdosages of museums by then so they were thinking of what to do
incidentally when we went to paris it was the time of nothing but
the french open! :D
yea man the prestigious tennis grand slam.
talk about lucky.
my dad not giving up a chance to brag to his friends dragged us to the stadium ( roland garros) to have a look

we bought 10 euro tickets which allowed us to view the small counrts.
10 euro would be around $20.. i think it was rather worth it!
so we queued up outside one of the courts and finally managed to get in.
so after we got in we sat down and watched a nice match!
these are the players playing that day.
it was a 2nd round game
a 12th seater spanish tobbi roberto ( guy in blue)
and french native player marco guicquel ( guy in white)
spanish guy won obviously, but it was a really close and nice match!
marco whacking the ball
i took many shots so i could just get the ball and the racquet and the player all in one shot.
yay i made it!
haha marco has this weird presurf routine
where he
1. whacks raquet on his shoes
2. wipes hand on raquet
3. wipes hand on shirt etc.
lol smart right?
so his white shirt is all stained with red clay. smart.
this is tobbi!
the poor guy, he had much less supporter.
u know home ground advantage for the french guy.
buthe kept his cool and played with a look of ease.
ahha i think marco was no match for him :P
after some time marco would start complainging to the refree about things liek the ball crossed line or not.
it was really stupid, he made himself look liek he had really bad sportmanship
then when it reached around 9 ( sky only starts to get dark then)
he started saying it was dark he dun want to play or sumthing
so it was really annoying.

and throughout, if the refree declined (which she almost always did) the audience(french) would boo away and yell out sumthing.
i think its really poor sportmanship really, i mean if we kids know not to boo, let alone the proffessional players and viewers.

throughout the whole episodes, toby always seemed rather bored with his demands. haha it was funny kind of.

night falls and we go out to grab some dinner at around midnight.
we took the subway to the opera house and i took a shot.
we didn't walk too close, but i got this rather nice shot.
i want to shoot that lamp post down!!

well last night of paris... hhaa shall be leaving for bordeaux soon!
the land of countrysides and wine.
wee for the countryside
i dun really care for the wine.
look out for more macro and nature shots!

week 8-paris day 2

here comes day 2 in paris!
waking up bright and early we headed off to grab breakfast at the nearby cafes and pastry shops.
most people there don;t know french
so it is difficult to actually ask for what you want.
so after much hand gesturing and a help or 2 from friendly locals we get to taste really yummy food!

after a nice breakfast we head off for musee d'orsay!
i must say i could actually like this museum more than louvre! oh my.
maybe because i saw more familiar art...

upon reaching d'orsay we saw this insanely long queue outside of the museum
we bought museum pass( meaning we could cut queues and enter all the museums with just that pass)( well i didn't need one, under 18 admit free:D yea man)
we were hopeing that wasn't the museum pass queue( since if everyone wants to cut, it means.. everyone has to queue up to cut right?) thankfully upon more "sign language" we figured we could enter through the side door behind a queue at least 1/10 of the length!
haha the poor people in the queue standing in the rain!

so the first thing when u walk into the museum, you see alot of sculptures!
i didn't quite figure out which period the sculptures were from, but i really liked them!
i like the poses, because they weren't very realistic, yet refreshingly new.
example above!
next we walk down the other aisle where we looked at more paintings. i think this is realism! tell me i am right! yes, there are actually more better paintings but... i wanted to show off i could name it as realism...
somehow i skipped many pictures in other rooms... sooo yes
i saw this view above the viewing gallery
tell me it is amazing! in between each pillar is like a gallery by respective artists..
but the perspective.. makes an amazing photo. one of the best "tunnel" photo i got throughout the whole trip i must say!

oh yes another note i would like to make is i was trying for alot of artistic photos this time round instead of the typical holiday snapshots. so yes i will try uploading most of them?
look at that LOOK LOOK LOOK POST IMPRESSIONISM
does it look familiar?
yes yes its by paul gauguin! the one we studied before
*clears voice* so here you see a typical painting done by gauguin, influenced by the tahiti people, the painting consists of many bright colours and patterns......mysterious.....
and its the one we compared to... erm hendra gunawan:" peeling flat beans" yea!

and where is van gogh you ask? well he is here, i just wasnt able to upload that darn video clip.. i shall try again? he is here don't worry! i simply went balistic with all the artist i knew!

post impressionism? mm
paul cezanne's landscape!
do u see the sphere cone and cylinder?
and if im not wrong i think a few of us repainted a part of this painting?
eeps i think paul cezanne is quite amazing, he inspired cubism afterall! ans i think cubism is cool, some of them, just look where it got picasso!
yay down to impressionism
Degas! and his ballerinas! ahha mum loves him cuz she loves ballet
yay we pose with the picture which ms tan made us analyse so many times!!
evidence it is impressionism:
1. cropping off the side
2. "candid camera"
3. realistic
4. erm light.. brush strokes. i can;t remember how we defined themmm oh no.
5. interesting perspective ( the girls backs are facing us!)
haha yay! i remembered.
the amazing view i got from the top of the stairs
another one of those rather good photos!
history behind the museum is that it used to be a train station! hence the longness
can u imagine the old steam powered trains chugging into the station? i can! CHOO CHOO!
and finally a better shot of that AMAZING CLOCK i cun get a good picture of for many many reasons. i cun get a position for a head on shot cause there are dangling lights which cover the clock.. i got scolded for climbing on the seats to take this photo though.. oops.
the  rhino sculpture outside the museum, it was still raining heavily when we got out.... see ben and jerry teeshirt? yea im a walking advertistment! haha say hi to scoopie from singapore!

at musee rhodin........
the thinker!
i wonder what he can possibly think of up there...
the thinker:" i think i am so cold i need clothes"
yea i thought so.
this is like a small pond and there was this sculpture in the middle. i thought it was interesting!

here are some yummy macro shots i got in the garden!
it was drizziling and there are plants
and the plants catch water
and anyone who knows me would know
macro+ plant+ water droplets= ying zhi going crazy with the camera!
in fact i got scolded by dad for taking flower pictures..

and that about wraps up day 2. i cut down the amount of photos i think!
i really only got one photo from general section ( painting/ sculptures) and other significant things. there are way too many!
