week 10- loish

today i shall be doing a feature on the wonderfully talented loish!
shes 22 and lives in holland. her art work is distinct by the hues she commonly uses. he cyan blues and browns.
another distinct feature is her use of textures to create a vintage and worn down look on her art.
without further ado, we shall explore her art, like they say a picture says a thousand words.

i especially like this piece alot, its very distinct of loish's style. the colours used are mostly a dull greyish colour, yet there is a distinct outline on the figures. the colour choice is amazing as the green hair brings out the redness in the skin of the girl. the fish also have a metallic shiny look to them, this reflects the light from the cigerette bud and her hair. the figure is also drawn in a semi realistic style, as opposed to the normal sharp chin, stick fingers and arms with huge anime eyes, this girl has realistic body proportions which are stylised to make them more interesting. the expression on the girl's face is also very playful. the details placed into this is subtle yet makes up the pictures greatness. the background may look simple, but is made up of many textures and colour gradients. the grey background is not a still grey but many shades of subtle grey which enhances the image. the texture used in the "circle" should also be noted. this brings about small details which are not eye jarring but makes the picture more interesting. take note of the texture as we would discuss more about them in the future.

another piece from loish. this time in a slightly more different style than before.
this time the subject is ariel from the classic disney movie "the little mermaid" here we can see the brush stokes are not polished and the colours have a certain acidity to them. do note that the colour scheme is still some what similar with the green-blue and brown-reds. the sketchiness of the piece is brought out even more with the texture she used over the whole piece. these is also a dirty look to the piece like it was crumpled and rubbed with scabbed paint. ( maybe like a painting that is worn out on the wall?) this is an interesting texture.

this piece was done in a hurry, just a quick sketch, yet it is one of the pieces i really like from her! there is once again a vintage look about the piece, with the rough textures and funky patterns. lets not forget the acidic blue once again!
the expression is rather hidden with the shadows, but is visible, it really has this worn off look to it!

more work from loish, but i'll let the picture do the talking!
