back again, in.. a non week 7 day.
well as some of you may know i went to europe for a trip, so here are the results, with pictures!
so the first day( morning, since we reached the night before) we went to the must go place in paris!
musee de louvre, also known as THE LOUVRE.
so why don't we just skip to photos.you know u want to ;p
this is... that upside down pyramid thing.. took this before we went in, i like how there are rainbow colours cause of the prism.. nice. of then u can wee me and mum pose stupidly there haha, we blocked the tip part though.. look for it in the other picture.
well anyway this is a walk through the sculptures part, i forgot which period and stuff these came from, but the video is a good way to look at more than one sculpture at a time, i hate uploading photos..
haha i just had to do that.. there are so many beautiful sculptures though... im just really lazy to upload the photo.. lets skip on down to the next section!
the white person is really a tourguide! i thought it was a really interesting looking thing, too bad we weren't part of the tour. i was most likely in french, like everything else.
and here is venus de milo ( sp?) well mrs tay put it on the must go see list sooo yea here she is just to prove i went to see her. haha actually i don't really like it.. mrs tay whats so special about it?
and here is a snipet of the ceilings of the louvre. i think its reallllly nice i cun stop taking photos when i first saw it. the louvre was some palace that got re renovated into the museum, so these were probably from those royal eras. so now u know when u go to the louvre don't just look at the picture, look up!
and here is... one of the other things mrs tay told me to go look at, but i er forgot the name.
RIGHT ON TO THE NEXT PICTURE.edit: ok heres the name! see i found it The Winged Victory of Samothrace
i don't know the name, but i think this and another painting was raised up in the da vinci code.. well because it looked so familiar and i don't exactly go searching for da vinci drawings in my spare time.
these 3 were some artists i saw at the louvre. it was amazing really, they all had a palette of paint an eisel and some big canvas and they just sat in front of the painting and drew. needless to say watching live painting is my utmost fav thing to do.. so i watched and look photo. u can compare the similarities in the one with the lady since i managed to get it at an angle i can see the original and artwork.
big paintings are a specialty of the louvre, many more big paintings to come! haha i can't remember the artist and title( as usual) but i think its renassaince so there i do remember ok!
i was trying to educate mum along the way..
and the thing u all have been waiting for... the MONA LISA haha.
you din realise it would be so small did you?
yea THATS HOW TINY IT WAS. luckily my camera had good zoom, so i caught some ok photos of it. i didn;t bother with that image since, you can get better images of it off the internet. this is just like a gauge of how teene it was, and how packed the room was.
yay for famous paintings! ( i call famous paintngs those i have actually seen in class and studied) err.. liberty something... i know it was about the french revolution!?
coronation of josephine.
HA REMEMBERED. yay. well like we all learned in class this is the huge painting where the painter brought in everyone to paint their face.. yada yada.. i can't even remember the artist's name.. what the...
and wow is that the OATH OF HORATI i see? yeap the one that killed us when ms tan had us analyse it so many times, the one we had to make a still image of.. the one with all the composition 3 thing jumbo. yeap i saw it.. and yea its really big...
this.. thing was kinda creepy, yet cool.
for some reason the museum had like random modern art things strewn in with the old art.. so yea one of them was this. it was like there were these grey tombstones and then this earthworm like thing with a face. and there was this thing playing raspy breathing noises.. it was really freaky... i didn't get it, but heck its creepy all the same.
this... is sorta disturbing anddd weird. i think the rainbow-ish box was made up from beetles. there were other works like that, u can ask for pictures if you want. its all rather morbid works.. very interesting.
you may not see whats so interesting about this sculpture in this picture since i downsized it. but basically this boy sculpture was made up of sharp thumbtacks sticking outwards. so its like if you touch it you would get stabbed. hence it is hanging in the air. its intriguing.
this painting is ... comical. sort of. i just thought it looked like a famous painting so i took a photo of it.
i just really liked the colours in the painting...
i can't remember who painted what in most of the works actually.
i think its time i start reading that louvre book i picked out.
and as we leave the louvre we spot this nice scene out of the window!
its really hard to get a good picture when we were out on the courtyard itself since the pyramid was big.
soo from the windows it was a good angle to shoot all these shots. so now you guys can see how big it is..
after we left the louvre we took the subway to Arc de Tromphe. we din go near it.. just looked at it from across the street. so i actually do not know anythign about it except that it is famous *shrug*
after that we had a walk down Champs Elysees, its the famous shopping street, really high class and all. it was raining so that gae us perfect excuses to walk in and out of shops more. yay!
so one of the shps we went to was this desert shop! it is all boutique and well.. expensive. (isn't everything in france expensive >..>) anyway. it sold macaroons( classic french desserts. it is flavoured meringues with flavoured.. how would you call it. cream? like things inside. oh gods, it is simply yummilicious)
it was really expensive.. a box of 6 for 12.50 euro. which is like..... SGD25.. which is like... SGD4.166666 EACH. ( cue's fainting) at least they tasted good.
and for some reason we have a lack of photos from then till the end of the day!
since we went to europe in the summer season, day time is long, and that means sunsets are realllllly late and realllllly long. we end up eating at 9 or so everyday because of the light.. we keep feeling it is not late when it was already 9.
well i was super excited to catch the sunsets. cause. i just love them.
however over the course of the whole trip i din get much
1. my dad scolded me for taking too much pictures. yes he did, don't ask me why, i already asked to no avail.
2. we were eating indoors mostly during the sunset.
sooo here is a nice sunset picture for you all to enjoy. it is edited in photoshop to bring out the colour etc. i actually kind of like it now. considering i took it before running in after my parents into a restraunt for dinner.
well thats all for paris day 1. i will be going on to day 2 next!
